Kentucky's Packhorse Peggy: Delivering Stories one Trail at a Time

 

Set in the Appalachian foothills of 1935, Kentucky’s Packhorse Peggy: Delivering Stories One Trail at a Time follows a spirited young woman with a big love of books and an even bigger heart for her neighbors.

 

When Peggy signs up for the Pack Horse Library Project, she and horse, Tucker, travel along creek beds and narrow mountain trails to bring books to families tucked deep in the hollers. Through snow and rain, over washed-out paths and icy ridges, Peggy delivers more than borrowed books, she brings comfort, connection, and a reason to hope.

 

And everywhere she goes, the community gives something back: a handwritten recipe, a shared story, a small gift for Tucker. Peggy tucks each treasure into her growing scrapbook until the pages hold a living patchwork of Appalachian traditions.

 

But when it’s time to share her scrapbook, Peggy discovers something important: the best stories pass from hand to hand and heart to heart.
